(Dateline Bangkok, 7th March 2016)

I'm starting this 4H Run #92 Hash Trash seated poolside at the Bangkok British Club, waiting for my evening flight to Sri Lanka. For the the next 2 weeks I will be staying at the Blue Water Boutique Hotel, Negombo Beach (c 45km N of Colombo), where I will make every effort to complete this write up if I don’t finish it here – honest I will…

During my 3-week stay in Bangkok I have participated in 10 hashes – all in beautiful tropical weather, making it difficult for me now to recall the weather on 4H Run #92. I seem to remember some complaints about the cold when I on-inned at 16.15h on completion of my super-eagle 2h 15m version of Hares Wiggy & Frenchie’s actual trail. So a short write up it will be - I don’t wish to be accused of causing mental as well as physical hypothermia by the FRBs and SCBs.

Commencing from Yokohama Stadium Park, the run covered some vu-ja-de chunks of familiar territory initially and without too much difficulty I was able (although running alone) to successfully navigate the 3 or 4 different sets of arrows encountered in the Yokohama Zoo area. After that, all continued to go well (with lots of hills) and some pleasant “rural” trails through the Forest Park, until I reached the Foreigners’ Cemetery area near the Anglican (?) church.

Here I lost the trail and decided, as it was by then getting late, to head straight back to the Yokohama Stadium. However, I went the wrong way and found myself at the seaside, very obviously several kilometers from the stadium…

I then decided it best to head north along the coast till I found a recognizable landmark. As hoped, after a couple of kms, I saw a sign for Motomachi and Chinatown. I even happened on the trail again, soon saw the ON IN mark and re-joined the 4H pack. Frenchie had even saved me a beer and a Mars Bar!

A brief circle soon followed, conducted by the GM: introductions were uttered through chattering teeth, visitors were welcomed and the Hares were educated and thanked. At around 16.45h, taking advantage of the remaining daylight, most of us headed off, following the arrows, to the Wine Bar and its welcome warmth.

About 25 of us were squeezed in and enjoyed an excellent meal with free flow beers, wines and, I understand, soft drinks. As the establishment had opened specially and exclusively for Hayama H3, it was a most enjoyable On3 – one of the best I can remember. (I know what you are thinking, so please don’t bother to point out the obvious…)

On On!
