Weather…..
‘Twas the night before # 67 as dark clouds rolled in;Everyone was pondering if the hash would begin. The flour sat dry, the chalk in its case,As the hares began to plan their race.
Morning light broke horizon from blue to gray,All hashers knew this would prove a challenging day.The hares broke early with a glint in their eye,With utmost motivation to keep their marks dry.
An A to B hash should be simple no less,But Mother Nature had plans to make the path a mess.Turkey or Eagle-- choose your path as you may,Be sure to copy the hares’ numbers should you be led astray.
23 gathered in the cold, moist air,To begin a journey no hasher knew where.Most dressed warmly prepared for the trail,But some wore shorts and T-shirt as if fighting the flames of hell. (Bloody Nipples…where are your clothes man…are you mad?!)
As we prepared to set off, excuses were flying,The hares report how their marks were dying:
“We remarked the trail”; “My glasses are a fog”;
“I really shouldn’t be here, I’m sick as a dog.”
Threw down our bags, we lept off in a hurry,The marks seemed clear no need to worry.We soon reached a park filled full with rain,Forest in the distance, ambition in our veins.
“Now, Ass Licker! Now, Dragonfly! Now Cliffhanger! and Pasoconti!On, Sweetie! On, Code Poo! On, Crusader and Bisconti!To the top of the stairs, don’t slip and fall!Hash away! Hash away! Hash away all!”
“Is that an arrow?” The trail looks hot. “Are you?...” “On On!!” “Oops,… maybe not.” Visions of beer and food dance in our mind,As the rain continues to make the arrows harder to find.
Back on city streets the Turkeys and Eagles join force,It is then that the team effort finds the right course.A welcome downhill as we ran to the end,Across the train tracks good food and beer about to begin.
A covered platform was a welcome “plan B”,But still a beautiful view of the sea.All cheered one another as they made their way in,Come have a cold beer-- you are with friends.
Fat Tire, Sam Adams, and Jell-O shots, too!!What a great spread, what a great crew!Off to MoriMori for some Spanish cuisine,Damn it feels good to be dry and clean.
Drinks “nomihodai”, the food was superb,A surprise new hash name --the story we heard.With highest honors - at work and at school,Our hare got a hash name-- isn’t she cool!She can design you a house- please don’t doubt her.Let’s raise a glass as Amy becomes “Cum Lauder”.
To the hares and the plan we bid you a toast,Most certainly a good trail envied by most.Nature dealt you a hand you cannot bluff,Sometimes haring is easy and sometimes it’s tough.
No matter the weather, no matter the trail,All effort is together in friendship, so we never fail.A classy group, no need to be brash,Let’s give three cheers to our HAYAMA HASH!
