Negishi Heights Hash
Scribe: Good On Top
Hares: Whiplash & Safety Last
Start Time: 3pm
Start Location: Negishi
Weather: Occasionally rain
Run Type: A to B
Runners: 12
It rained off and on all morning and it reminded me of last year’s hash…same Hare, same start point and we ran looking at maps instead of following arrows in a pouring rain….Would it be the same run today? But when I arrived at Negishi station, the rain had already stopped and soon Hares started chalk talk. Luckily we had arrows to follow this time! Besides, well-prepared Hares handed each of us emergency maps just in case.
Today’s harriers and harriettes were Pasoconti, Desperado, Cliffhanger, Asslicker, Wiggy, Platinum Pork, Code Poo, Do Me Next Week, no name Rachel, Good on Top and Bisconti (observer)…and of course Crusader and Jelly Mouth showed up at the last minute, should we expect anything less?
Hashers started running the trail but soon lost the arrows. Wiggy and Platinum Pork found an arrow and we were back on trail. As we ran up winding narrow stairs, we reached Negishi Shinrin Park which is remembered by the hashers who ran there last year.
Running in the park and passing by Equire Museum of Japan, we realized we were running the same trail as last year and it continued to Honmoku Park and Yamate afterward. No originality??
Many flowers such as Hydrangeas and lilies bloomed beautifully with shining raindrops in the parks and we enjoyed looking at them while running.
There were many markings along the street, walls, poles, etc…but we did not see any CB or check points. We were just running toward beer at the finish point. Can’t get any better than that!
We had a light drizzle off and on while running but the rain got harder as we approached Harbor View Park which was the finish point…or was it Yamate Italian Garden? Just ask Crusader.
Eagle hashers finished about 12km distance in little over an hour or so and we enjoyed beer and a lot of snacks waiting for Turkey hashers to finish. Hares also served us sweet and rich (and strong) Bailey’s Irish Cream.
After a while, Pasoconti finished by himself but no one followed him.
Whiplash contacted them on the phone and found out they were somehow heading to “Yamate Italian Garden” after missing arrows just before Harbor View Park! They thought “Italian Garden” would be the finish point.
After another hour of waiting, Crusader and Jelly Mouth finished, followed by Desperado and Do Me Next Week.
Good work, everyone!!
By the time we started circle, the rain stopped and we walked to Motomachi where we had On-On after a brief circle.
The restaurant called “Laser Rush”, also the same place last year, was cozy and vibrant atmosphere. We were stuffed by a pile of paella and other plateful foods and beer. Furthermore, some people who have room for dessert (we say “ betsubara” in Japanese) ordered a big cheese cake a la mode to share. We were all satisfied and left for home. I believe Hares were also satisfied to complete their trail as planned this time except “Italian Garden”. Good job and thank you Hare! Looking forward to the same identical trail next year and don’t forget to bring the rain!!
