Somehow, it's fallen to a newbie, practically a virgin, to write up the Hash. So here goes. Sunday we gathered for the farewell Hash for Whiplash and Safety Last as they move back to Canada. This time, we're fairly sure it's for good. With the magnificent ocean view and the stately Zushi Marina and it's palm tree-lined boulevard as the backdrop, we set out on a twisty trail thru the hills and ancient burial mounds of Kamakura & Zushi. Hares Pasaconti and Asset Stripper laid a challenging but interesting course through hidden corners and narrow trails, up and down steep hillsides, passing temples and shrines, on-on through sleepy residential blocks and elegant summer villas. The itinerary even included a mini zoo/monkey cage. Coming directly on the heels of a brutal 2 week heatwave, the weather cooperated and provided a nice cloud cover and an occasional light drizzle to cool us off and ensure that no one died of heat stroke. In the end, the clouds lifted enough to give us a (partial) view of Mt. Fuji as we downed farewell toasts to Mark and Heather and presented them with 4H commemorative mugs and hoodies. The 4H crew eagerly await any future visits back to Japan. Is anyone ready for a 4H excursion to British Columbia?
