sit - “乘” and “坐”

Both “乘” and “坐” can mean “use a transport means to go to a place”. Is there any difference between them?

【Different Definitions】

乘（chénɡ）: take a transport means

坐(zuò): sit on a chair, sofa or other objects

【Different Usages】

“乘” can only be followed by such transport means as bus, plane and ship, while “坐” is not limited to such.

【Example】

√ 请进！请坐！请喝茶！（qǐnɡ jìn ！qǐnɡ zuò ！qǐnɡ hē chá！）

Please come in! Please take a seat! Please have some tea!

X请进！请乘！请喝茶！

√ 大家 坐 下 谈 吧！（dà jiā zuò xià tán bɑ ！）
