Both “二”and“两”refer to the number “two”. Is there any difference between them?

二(èr): two or the sum of one and one
两(liǎnɡ): two; both sides/parties; a few/some
【Different Usages 】
1.We say “二” rather than “两” when counting.
√ 一、二、三、四......(one, two, three, four…)
X 一、两、三、四......
2.”As an ordinal number, “二” is used instead of “两”.
√ 我要坐二路公交车。(I will take No.2 Bus.)
X 我要坐两路公交车。
√ 这是我第二次来中国。(It is the second time I have come to China.)
X 这是我第两次来中国。
3.In a multi-digit number, “二” rather than “两” is used in the place of hundred, ten or unit.

4. “两” can be used before a measure word, while “二” cannot.
