If one of your friends is addicted to smoking, call him “烟鬼”（yān ɡuǐ）.
But if he is addicted to alcohol, call him “酒鬼”（jiúɡuǐ）.
If you find yourself harassed, yell boldly, “色鬼！（sèɡuǐ）Get away！”.
If you are unfortunate to have a roommate, who doesn’t work, study or even get out of his room, rebuke him to his face, “你真是个懒鬼！（nǐzhēnshìɡè lǎn ɡuǐ: You are such a lazy guy）”.
Also, you may surely come across penny pinchers, dub them “小气鬼”（xiǎo qi ɡuǐ）orally, or mark them as “吝啬鬼（lìn sè ɡuǐ）”in your diary.
As for “老鬼”, it is a pejorative term. Say to all you dislike, “你这老鬼！Blah, blah, blah….”
Moreover, “鬼”（ɡuǐ）and “未”（wèi）together form a senior character“魅”, which means “evil spirits”. The word “鬼魅”（ɡuǐmèi）refer to almighty spirits.
