Neil Sedaka - Come See About Me
In 1984, Neil Sedaka enlisted an impressive roster of talent -- including several singers who originally made hits out of a few tunes he covered-- for his album "Come See About Me." Guest artists included Mary Wilson, Edgar Winter, Gary U.S. Bonds, Ashford & Simpson, and more! Most of the songs are fairly faithful to the originals... but "Rhythm of the Rain" and "Earth Angel" sorta stick out since they've been thoroughly '80sfied. But most notable here, Sedaka's cover of "New Orleans" with Gary U.S. Bonds was featured in "Voyage of the Rock Aliens."
Also issued was a 12" album featuring a few remixes of "New Orleans," as well as a standard 45 single. According to the sticker attached to the otherwise plain-white sleeve of the 12", the song was issued as "A Tribute to the World's Fair." No idea what's up with that. The label, however, cites the film.
