Those Crazy Peckers!
Here's what seems to be a one-shot comic book from Solson Comics in 1987 called "Those Crazy Peckers." I say it 'seems to be a one-shot' because that obviously wasn't the intention, yet I can't find proof that any further adventures were ever printed. God knows, I've looked. If memory serves, Overstreet never even bothered to list this title.
Those Crazy Peckers are a rock band comprised of chickens. Their van breaks down after their latest gig, so they wind up bunking at the castle of the nefarious Dr. Anton S. Wartbelly... who is, not surprisingly, a mad scientist hellbent on world domination. The mad doctor takes this as his cue to transfer the Peckers' brains into -- *bum, bum, BUM!* -- mechanical ducks.
The only thing cheesier is Kraft mac & cheese. Then again, Howard the Duck wasn't far off either. Like all of the Solson comics, the book was printed in black and white, but there's some nice, cartoony art, a few cool pinups and a mindlessly amusing story.... It's really too bad we never got to see the villain planned for the next issue: Evil Catnip and his ninja assassins!
