I Saw What You Did (1988)

An '80s made for TV remake of William Castle's 1960s Joan Crawford vehicle, the story revolves around three girls who make prank phone calls. But when they call up the mentally disturbed Adrian Lancer (Robert Carradine, REVENGE OF THE NERDS), it turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse. In an era of caller i.d., I guess the story's become a bit dated and fans of the original generally hate it... but it's elevated above standard movie of the week fare by the great performances, stylish direction and a creepy synth score (which I wish were on CD). Shawnee Smith (the SAW films, "Becker"), Tammy Lauren (BRIDE OF BOOGEDY) and Candace Cameron Bure ("Full House") star as the girls, real-life sibling David Carradine has a small but memorable role as Adrian's brother and it was directed by Fred Walton (WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, APRIL FOOL'S DAY, THE STEPFORD HUSBANDS).Somebody needs to release this on DVD already!
