Ultraverse Valentine's Day Cards

Okay yes, I realize Halloween was only yesterday... and it's still Halloween in parts of the country. If this post proceeded as planned, I was going to offer an array of cards and plead for an old Valentine's Day TV special for a friend, but he found a copy on his own.... and since I had these ready, I figured what the hell.

In 1995, the local Arby's were all hawking this coupon book, "Valentines for a Cure," the proceeds of which benefited the Leukemia Society of America. The front side of these cardboard coupons featured Valentines with the characters from the Malibu Comics series "Ultraverse," the back were coupons for free small fries with purchase of a sandwich. The coupons were good from Valentine's Day until March 26, 1995 and I think they sold for $5 (which all equals the deal of a lifetime!). What makes this book particularly strange is that Malibu Comics were bought out by Marvel in 1994. The cards have a 1994 date and Malibu Comics trademark, and apparently they were offered by Burger King in Ohio in 1994... so I'm guessing the Leukemia Society offered these regionally at different fast food chains for a couple years. Very odd.

There are seven cards which include Pixx, Prime, Elven, Sludge, Tech, Yrial and Prototype. Seems like a pretty unique piece of comic book ephemera, so enjoy!
