Starchaser: The Legend of Orin

Yes, there are obvious shades of STAR WARS but this PG-rated animated film (which was obviously aimed at teens and adults) has a lot of charms, some decent animation and more than a few hilarious moments (often provided by two goofy robots). Originally released in (from all accounts, good) 3-D, only a 2-D version was ever released on video here in the States. On DVD.
