Bartleby (2001)

The always-weird Crispin Glover stars as the title character, a nutcase who takes an office job... and ultimately refuses to do any work. Almost feels like a stage play; I can't hear the word "prefer" without snickering and thinking of this film. Glover was born to play the lead and Glenne Headly manages to upstage all of her costars as the overly-articulate, smarmy office sexpot. Based on the "unfilmable," Kafka-esque short story "Bartleby the Scrivener" by Herman Melville ("Moby Dick"). Also stars David Paymer, Joe Piscopo, Carrie Snodgrass and Dick Martin. Great theramin score!
