Zaphnath-paaneah in Egyptian means "a revealer of secrets". The Holy Scriptures, the Bible itself, is a revealer of secrets. All the great advice it gives is a daily means of communication with God. Every little detail within the book gives valuable secrets about how we should conduct our daily lives and also ways to preserve our lives. To be better prepared for all of life´s events, we should pay great attention to how the main characters in the Bible conducted their lives. There is no other device on earth that will allow us to look into the great effects that the future might unfold upon us. Whether or not there will be famine or not, we should always be prepared for what might happen. Do you envy the rich for what they have laid up for themselves? If one were to choose, I would rather lay up things in heaven, where no thief could approach, but that time is also approaching when darkness will be upon the face of the earth and the souls will be weighed for good or bad. Spend time every day reading the Bible, praying, and laying up in your heart all the scriptures that God has given to preserve your life and soul.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

God is not telling you to be poor and throw away indiscriminately the material things of this earth. You should always set aside something for the coming days of famine. There might not be in your lifetime such a famine that once hit Egypt, but that does not mean you will not experience some type of disaster or shortfall that is sure to happen one way or another. It only takes time for something like this to happen. No one person should be without some type of plan in case of emergency. God wants all of his children to be successful or at least to be able to sustain themselves during all types of plenty, as well as famine. The earth regularly has both of those times in all its history.
You would do well to follow the advice of Joseph (Zaphnath-paaneah) and prepare for at least seven years of famine, no matter how rosy the present looks, or how wicked it seems, or how disastrous the world always appears all around us. You can consult the stock market futures, the PPI (Producer Price Indexes), Warren Buffet, or any other teller of future events, but the Bible is always the only one medium of real knowledge and reliability that is without a doubt the best and closest to what will actually happen. If I were buying any kind of private stock on the New York Stock Exchange or the NASDAQ, I would always look at the balance sheet and choose one that had a great amount of cash held in reserve for these coming times of famine that are sure to happen in one way or another. I would never want to buy any stock that had huge amounts of debt. Always keep something in reserve for the bad times that will arrive sooner or later. Get rid of your own personal debt and listen to Zaphnath-paaneah, always being ready for seven years of famine.
the name which Pharaoh gave to Joseph when he raised him to the rank of prime minister or grand vizier of the kingdom ( Genesis 41:45 ). This is a pure Egyptian word, and has been variously explained. Some think it means "creator," or "preserver of life." Brugsch interprets it as "governor of the district of the place of life", i.e., of Goshen, the chief city of which was Pithom, "the place of life." Others explain it as meaning "a revealer of secrets," or "the man to whom secrets are revealed."

28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.
29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;
31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.
32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
