A.C.T.S. is a very good acronym for one of the best recipes for prayer.
A = Adoration
C = Confession
T = Thanksgiving
S = Supplication
Sinfulness creeps into all the lives of even Christians, and it uniquely presents a barrier between man and God. In the old Testament, the priests were the only ones who could enter into the Holy of Holies, and he had to be absolutely spotless and give an atonement for all his sins, or else the penalty was a certain death, just being in the presence of God. Prayer is very similar to the Holy of Holies, and we have to be willing to be judged of God, day by day, in order to be prepared to be in His presence. That is after all what prayer is, a presence with God. Jesus baptized with the Holy Ghost, since he drew people into the presence of God and bared their sinfulness to judgement, so that they could be forgiven. Are you willing to be enveloped into the Holy Ghost, allow the sinfulness of your life to be burned away as in judgement, like the dross melted out of silver in a crucible of molten plasma, in order to be purified to experience God's presence and healing in your life? Care enough about your own soul to do the right thing and come before God into his presence and be prepared to suffer what might be a judgement, sending you mentally and physically into Hell. If you know that you are evil, as all men are, since even Christians are plagued by sin but reject its wicked nature, you will come before God and receive his admonishment and chastisement. It might be a catharsis, rendering out of your personality, evil characteristics, which have crept in because of your disobedience to God. The love of God is boundless and merciful. Let the healing come naturally and fulfill your destiny to be a useful part of the Christian family of God. If you humbly try to enter into God's presence with prayer, there will be a change in your life, your attitude, and your health. People who give up their sins willingly might see a dramatic improvement in their health, because they are no longer burdened by guilt and the nightmares of regret that constantly plague their waking hours. Being in God's presence literally burns away the years of bad mistakes that might have followed a person since childhood, or a horror that could have been personally committed, or an evil nature that might have slowly entered into the life of an otherwise just and good person. Prayer changes things. Not even a sparrow falls to the ground without God knowing about it.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
