When is the last time you thought about where your soul comes from, or where did your being originate? Can you say that you made it up, or invented your own self? How many times have you created a great thing, a work of art, a construction, or some new invention and knew that it might not be your best work? What is a soul and does it live on after death? Is it changed during your lifetime for better or worse, and why would you want it to continue after death? Is there something good within your being that should follow you, after you no longer have life and breath in your earthly body? These are some questions that some people do not want to answer or have no answer for, but they should. Everyone needs to have something that they might bring from memory, which could stand as a good thing that might be recorded in the Book of Life. It would be a written record of at least one good deed that was done in their life, or maybe there were many. If not then plan to carry through with some charitable event that might follow you after life is over. God provided you with a soul for the entirety of your life, and to Him it will go after your life is over, but what record will it show after God reads the results of your memories?
“And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?”

“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.”

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.”
https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/1-Corinthians-13-13/
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,”

“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”
https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Ecclesiastes-12-7/
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

So, God breathed into our nostrils the breath of life and we became a living soul, and after we die our soul returns to God who gave it. God knows the deepest secrets of our hearts. But what did we do on earth in the meantime, while we were alive and able to use this soul for something good? Let us remember our past and see if we can recall something that was worthy of the time we spent here on earth. If not, then before we pass through that veil of darkness, let us try our best to make some charitable venture that would be worthy of our passage, while we were here on earth.
