Christ in Gethsemane, Heinrich Hofmann, 1886
When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, before he was to be taken as a criminal, his agony was such that his sweat became as great drops of blood. What an enormous stress he was under, possibly worrying about his own outcome and the fate of mankind, and also about their faith in God. Angels even came to strengthen him and give him hope and resolve that his mission, God´s will would be accomplished. So, prayer is of extreme importance, even when you are aware of your own consequences, your mission, and your fate in life. It is invention oriented, definitely always involving change, and also bringing about solutions, whether it is world-shattering, or of the most microscopic of seemingly innocent details to your life. A small prayer that you have memorized, which comes quickly to mind in times of trouble, can have the most dramatic of results. Words may not be possible to form in times of stress, except the same seemingly monotonous ones that become a great and noble aid of immense proportions. A simple prayer like the Lord´s Prayer, or the Twenty Third Psalm, or even some few words of supplication that are repeated on a regular basis that you know deeply by heart, sometimes unknowingly brings amazing results. Open your heart to God.
God wants us to have communion and conversation, whether in words, or with only simple thoughts that form into images and visualizations. The best way to solve any problem is to visualize all the important factors, the key forces that are acting in all directions, and to imagine a solution that would achieve the greatest and most beneficial results. Prayer does all of these things, except that you have another entity looking at the problem at hand to help in resolving conflict or outcome, and that is your Heavenly Father. God is the great omnipotent and all powerful one that permeates all things. What better observer and guide than God in the form of the Holy Spirit to aid, comfort, and help you to find outcomes? It is like having your own personal "Think Tank" of paid corporate executives to organize some endeavor with multiple solutions and a complete staff of highly paid employees, except that the one who is connecting you to the Collective Mind is God himself. Only, God is millions of times better, and he won´t lead you down a huge rabbit hole that bankrupts the entire company, unless you abandon his laws, teachings, and life principles given in the Bible.
Who knows how thoughts are actually formed, whether the electrons are supercharged by a spiritual entity, or you are simply directed by your own brain and nervous system to find solutions? Anyway, the origin of all things is unknown, whether God already formed the designs of our bio-electronic solution machine in the beginning of our existence, or he is actively participating in the thought process. God has given us prayer as a spiritual aid to comfort us and to provide a faithful orientation to solving life´s problems.
Sometimes, there is not always a problem to be solved, just a thankfulness and adoration for the spiritual presence of a loving God. Your life and breath is a gift, as is your very existence and fate in a universe of unknown proportions that is surrounded by evil. It just makes common sense to spend time daily in some form of prayer and meditation on the Holy Scriptures. When all humanity fails you, as sometimes the world evolves into chaos, God is your only friend and ally. Jesus Christ knew what was in the heart of all men. He told his disciples that there is only one that is good and that is God.
“And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”

1 ...The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

“And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.”
