Many types of buildings don´t stand the test of time and wind up falling into dust and decay. So is the mind of man, almost like the edifice of a tall building, sometimes leaning to the right but falling to the left; but what is the proper course of building up even spiritually? God does a lot of the work for us, if we trust in Jesus. Learning about the Son of God is the first order of business in building properly our spiritual building.
Jesus was talking to the Pharisees about his spiritual body, The Temple, and if they destroyed it that He would build it back in three days. Jesus was crucified, laid in the tomb three days, and the Holy Ghost revived Him and restored His presence on the Earth. During the after death presence of His body on Earth, Jesus visited the Disciples and even passed through walls, because the doors were locked for fear of the Jews at that time. So, Jesus had built back His body, The Temple, in three days, and it was better than it was before, able to penetrate through walls and even appear physically to His Disciples.
Building here on Earth is marvelous and greatly satisfying, but to build up something that lasts even unto Heaven is the most productive and everlasting thing of all. Laying up great earthly wealth, gold and silver, pales in comparison to what are heavenly treasures. Build something that will last an eternity, a spiritual body, according to the scriptures of the Bible and the words of Jesus Christ. On Earth, insects and rust eventually will destroy anything you build or make, and thieves may break in and steal all your valuables, take your house, your car, and your most expensive items that you paid dearly for. But, they cannot take the spiritual body you are building and the lessons that God teaches you with the words of Jesus Christ.
It does not happen automatically and instantly, most of the time. You have to work at building up your faith and wisdom. Memorizing the words of Jesus will never leave your heart and mind, believing always. Keeping those words will insure that you eternally have a personal relationship with God and find peace, hope, and understanding, giving charity to others when able. Salvation is a gift from God, but it does not happen without giving up your sins willingly. You have to actually put forth some effort to resist temptation and evil. Work brings about the edification of your goals and dreams. It is uplifting and makes for a productive life.
Even if a person is handicapped, lying in a hospital bed, or in some way less than in the best condition; doing nothing is almost like accepting death and the grave. Making small movements with your legs, arms, or even flexing your grip builds something out of nothing. Even a quadriplegic with a spinal cord injury can study the Bible and memorize the words of Jesus, building up a great edifice within his mind and heart of life giving personal spiritual values. He can then move freely about in the spiritual spaces that are extraordinary and special within his own mind's eye, where he could never have gone to before, even if he had working arms and legs. You have to build your own world around you, taking advantage of the gifts from God to the best of your abilities. .

“He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.”

11And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying, 12Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father: 13And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel. 14So Solomon built the house, and finished it. 15And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir. 16And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place. 17And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.
