If you don’t know, recently the Israeli government declared a state of war with the militant group Hamas after multiple strategic attacks on the Gaza strip. This forced Israel to retaliate. And hundreds died due to the crossfire.
The U.S. is providing personnel, munitions, and aid to Israel. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that a small cell of special operations forces are now assisting Israel with intelligence and planning with government officials.
And as of October 19th, President Biden publicly said he would talk to
Congress about sending 14 billion dollars to Israel.
The U.N has tried to keep a neutral stance on the conflict. According to them officials are working to de-escalate the conflict. They also are providing aid to civilians and personnel. The U.N. also is outraged that innocent people are stuck in the crossfire, and both side’s targeting civilians.
Hamas says it was forced to attack Israel after poor treatment, recent violent outbursts, and Israeli expansion into their territory. This forced them into attacking Israel.
