On Thursday, March 23rd the MS890 soccer team had their first game of the season. The Phoenix versed the Liberty Eagles at Bush Terminal Park under cloudy but mild weather. The score was tied at 2 points for each team. Head Coach, Mr. Fava, proudly comments, “I just wanted to share that our soccer team had their first game last night and they played wonderfully. We tied with Liberty 2-2. The game was an exciting back and forth. Our team played well and did a fantastic job. Super proud of the effort they put in. Some highlights: Goals scored by Giovanni Campos and Noah Harley, assists by Oscar Tutschulte and Roen Goldberg with 3 saves and Joseph Tlatelpa with 4 saves. Stellar defense from Edwin Hernandez, William Ferguson, Jesus Rodriguez, Ivan Tatarchuk, and Jose Martinez.” 7th grader, Eder, who played defender states that “the game was pretty good and that everyone did their best and that’s all that matters.” We are excited to see what this team is capable of this season. Till next time!
