The New York Jets are usually marred by incompetence only making the playoffs 15 times in 63 years and having a career record of 420-530-8 (Win-Loss-Tie record). This team hasn't made the playoffs since 2010. Things are about to change for this unlucky team.
This Jets team for the 2024 season is unlike anything the Jets have ever had. The Jets defense, which has been the laughing stock in prior years, is now a built unit with key pieces like Sauce Gardener, John Franklin Myers and the very reliable, Quinnen Williams. The Run Game has also improved immensely since last season. Breece Hall, even though he is out for the rest of the season, is only 21 and has the potential to become an elite running back like we saw in his play time this year which was cut short by his injury. The Jets, for once, decided to spend big at the trade deadline and acquire James Robinson from a terrible Jaguars. They still have 23-year-old Michael Carter to make up for Breece Hall's missing production and it seems to have worked; they were able to beat one of the best teams in football, the Buffalo Bills 20-17 earlier this year.
But just to be sure, let's compare them to another
AFC dynasty: The Kansas City Chiefs.
Boom or Bust QB out of college? Check
Underappreciated Veteran Tight-End? Check
Young Wide Receivers and Defense? Check
Coach lost Super Bowl with former team? Check
There are quite a few similarities between these two teams, which sets the Jets up for an inevitable Super Bowl win in the near future. This team could be the next transcendent dynasty but all we can do is see how this young team plays out.
