Our school, M.S. 890, has a wide variety of exciting, fun, helpful, and highly educational activities! These include basketball, volleyball, debate, peer tutoring, and newspaper. We will highlight a few clubs during each edition of the paper.
Debate: Debate is a structured discussion on a specific subject where opposing viewpoints are presented at a public gathering or legislative assembly. In this club (taught by Mr. Wasserman and Mr. Mosher), you will learn about these values and how to execute them through speech and writing. As a member, you will have the opportunity to debate against other schools on topics like NSA Surveillance, market rate housing, and student loan debate. This can help you become more aware and knowledgeable about some important topics in the world. With debate, you can gather more confidence in your skills! (Days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from)
Peer Tutoring: In the peer tutoring program -which is led by Ms. Alsahybi- you have the ability to help your fellow classmates become better students. With just a simple phrase, you can advance someone's skills in any subject, help them retain knowledge learned in class from you, put skills into action, and recognize their misunderstandings on topics. Pier tutoring is a great way to share you smarts with everyone. (Days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:40-4:30)
