In a battle of wits and words, the after school debate club recently showcased their prowess at the debate tournament held in IS 093 Ridgewood on December 16th. The theme of the debates centered around the pressing issues of the housing crisis and the economy. Under the guidance of their dedicated debate teachers, Mr. Murray and Mr. Wasserman, the students engaged in thought-provoking discussions, honing their skills for the challenging event. Sixth grader Klara, said she was very nervous but it was still a lot of fun.
Although the team didn't secure prizes, their participation was a victory in itself. The 890 Debate Club gained invaluable experience, delving into the intricacies of the housing crisis and economic challenges. The lessons learned from this tournament will undoubtedly serve as a solid foundation for their upcoming debate in January, as they continue to sharpen their abilities and make their mark in the world of competitive debate.
