Film: Portraits

For this project we had to take portraits using the film cameras. The day that it was assigned I was working on something else and forgot to take a camera home so that put me behind a little bit. I borrowed a camera from the school for the weekend and asked my dad to be the subject of the photos. There was a list of different portraits to take like one with a prop and one from an interesting angle. My dad built a hut in the backyard where he builds model airplanes so I decided to have him sitting in there and using a plane as a prop. I was able to get an interesting angle by going up to the second level of the hut. The problem with taking pictures in there was that there wasn't enough light. That didn't end up affecting the pictures too much because I just used F16 instead of F11 to make the print lighter. I had another problem though because when I was trying to figure out how to rewind the film I accidentally hit the button to open the camera which exposed some of the film. It turns out it would automatically rewind when you take all the pictures which I had not done. I took some random pictures to make it rewind but that part of the film was exposed so I couldn't use most of those. Luckily the pictures of my dad were not ruined and I was able to make a contact sheet and a print using them.
