For this assignment we were given a piece of paper with a bunch of circles on it. This was similar to the circle project from the beginning of the year because I had to find a way to use the circles. The first thing I though of was bubblewrap and then I couldn't really think of anything else so I went with that. I tested it out in watercolor on a piece of drawing paper and it looked pretty good there so I started painting it on the final piece of paper. I was having trouble recreating the same thing I did on the test paper but it looked okay. I ran out of time in class so I brought it home to finish but I had different watercolors from the ones at school so it took me a little while to figure out the right colors. after i did the water colors I added the highlights in white acrylic paint and then went over the outlines of the circles with it. The last thing I did was cut off part of the left side of the paper because it was longer than the right side.
The materials I used for this project are watercolors and acrylic paint. I used watercolor for most of the painting and then I used white acrylic paint for the highlights.
The elements of art that I used in this painting are texture, shape, and value. I used texture to show the how the plastic is wrinkled and I used shape because the whole project was based around circles. I used value to make some of the parts of the bubble wrap darker and some lighter to show the shadows in it. The principles of design that I used in this painting are balance, pattern, and unity. I used balance by cutting one side of the paper to make it even. There is pattern because the whole paper is just the simple bubble wrap. There is unity because all the bubbles are the same size and look similar.
I am not happy with how this painting turned out because I think it looks kind of messy and you can't really tell what it is supposed to be. The bubble wrap was the first thing I thought of and I couldn't take a lot of time to think of other ideas because I wanted to start it during the midterm. I also thunk I could have made it more interesting by maybe adding something in the background like a person or an object and then painting the bubble wrap design over it.
