Time Capsule Drawings

An object I depend on regularly

I chose my alarm clock for this drawing because I use every morning to wake me up for school. I started out by drawing it in red colored pencil and then I colored it with watercolor. I went over the watercolor with a black pen to add the details and some crosshatching for the shadows. I this picture I forgot to add the two dots on the time but I added them later and it looks fine without them here. I started out with just the clock and the shadow but it didn't take up enough of the page so I added a background to make it look like the clock is on a table. I used drawing paper for this so it was kind of splotchy when I used watercolor on it but it mostly went away when it dried. This one was my favorite out of all four drawings.

Cropped Self Portrait

For the cropped self portrait I decided to draw my nose and mouth because I have been practicing drawing noses recently. I also didn't want to draw my eyes because it would be too difficult to keep looking from the mirror to the paper while trying to draw my eye. I just used graphite for this because I wanted to be able to focus on blending and value. Once I finished drawing the nose I still had space on the paper so I had to add my mouth to the drawing. I never practice drawing mouths so this part was really difficult to draw. I like how this drawing turned out.

Hallway drawing

For this drawing I chose the hallway outside of the art room. I already drew this hallway last year in foundations of art so I was going to face the other direction but I decided that the hallway was too long and complicated that way. I remember most of the things I learned about perspective drawing like how everything goes back to the vanishing point. I used the class time we were given to work on the time capsule drawings for the hallway drawing because the hallway at my house isn't very interesting. I decided to just used pencil for this drawing because it wasn't a very colorful hallway.

Your hand in an interesting gesture

I restarted this one a couple times trying to find a good pose to draw. Hand are very difficult so I decided to draw it in a simple way. I colored it with watercolors but you can't really tell because of how yellow the picture makes the paper look. Then I outlined it in black marker but I was in a hurry so some parts of it weren't completely dry and it made the ink bleed. It looks kind of incomplete so if I had worked on it for longer I probably would have added a background. I don't really like how this one turned out.
