Donate Life

Donate Life

8" x 11"

For the donate life project I decided to think of a slogan first and then draw something based off of that. The slogan I chose was "Give someone a breath of fresh air, consider organ and tissue donation." Then I did a sketch of what I thought would go with that slogan. I made the sky filled with a lot of spiral shapes because that's how wind is usually shown in drawings. I made the sky take up most of the page because it went with the whole fresh air idea. Then I added the person standing on a sort of hill looking at the sky. This is supposed to represent the person being helped by organ and tissue donation so I made them very simple so it could be anyone. Then I added some trees to add to the fresh air theme.

I made this drawing digitally using the app Procreate on an iPad. I started with a sketch and then I went over it on another layer to make the lines neater. Then I added flat colors under the line layer. I added details in the grass and the sky with different values of blues and greens. Then I wrote out the slogan in black but I felt like it was difficult to see because of the pattern in the sky so I added white under it to make it stand out more. I made the lines of the trees and the sky a little messy to add texture. I also used to trees to balance both side and create a pattern because there was a pattern in the sky but it wasn't very balanced. I made the spirals only take up the middle of the sky so that there was some emphasis on them. My project evolved as I added more detail and decided how the words should look. My next steps could be to add this abstract type of sky in other drawings.
