For my arrive alive design I came up with this image of a car crash pouring out of a beer bottle. I did this because wanted to make it clear that the cause of the crash was drinking and driving. I also added a smaller version of the beer bottle on the ground next to the car. I found a few images online to use as references for what an upside down car looks like.
The materials I used for this piece were gouache, fine point pen, and a paint marker. I wanted the colors to be pretty simple and flat so I started out with thicker layers of gouache instead of building them up like I usually would. After I colored the whole thing with gouache, I went over the lines with a fine point pen to make it more detailed. For the clouds I used a white paint marker.
I experimented with perspective for this piece by having the beer bottle in the background and then making the road go from there into the foreground to add some depth. The lines of the road also lead the viewer's eye to the beer bottle. I made the environment more colorful and soft looking so that the dark brown, black, and grey on the bottle, the road, and the car would stand out more. My project evolved when I added the smaller beer bottle into the final drawing to emphasize what had caused the accident because I didn't include that in the thumbnail sketch. The bottle does kind of blend into the road so if I could change something about this piece I would figure out how to make it more visible.
