scribble drawing

Artist Statement

For this assignment we were given a piece of paper to make a scribble on. Then we switched all of the papers around and turned other people’s scribbles into drawings. THe subject of my drawing is an elephant with water coming out of its trunk. I used the scribble a the top of it’s head down to the end of its trunk. The line was in black marker and I used grey and pink colored pencil for the rest of the elephant and blue colored pencil for the water.

I chose to create an elephant because that’s what the line looked like it could be turned into when I first got the paper with just the scribble on it. Some elements I used in the drawing are shape, color, and line. At first when I drew it it was just a blue outline but then I decided to add some extra color and make the outline pink too. Also the ear started out too small so I fixed that too.

We were supposed to make the drawing relate to something about ourselves or something we did this summer and I went to the Santa Barbara Zoo this summer and saw elephants. Something I am proud of in my artwork is the water coming out of the elephant’s trunk because I think it looks kind of cool. I struggled with the elephant’s ear being too small and I fixed this by changing the shape a little to make it seem bigger. I think I could improve upon this artwork by drawing the lines darker because I draw pretty lightly and it can be kind of hard to see it.
