abstract shoe drawing

This assignment had three parts, for the first one I drew my shoe from three different different perspectives: the side, the top, and the front. Then for the second one I started by separating the page into three equal parts. Then I put a veiw finder somewhere on the first drawing and drew what was in it in the first box. Next, I put the view finder on what was in the first box and drew that in the second box . Then I did the same thing with the veiw finder on the second box and the drawing in the third box. In the third box I was left with just a couple lines. For the third part of the assignment I used the lines in the third box to create an abstract drawing. I didn't want to just do random shapes for this so I decided to do a scene in each section and I made the scenes in thin black marker then went over them with some sort of messy watercolors to make it colorful. I chose to not fill in the entire thing with color because I wanted it to look more simple. The things in each section are a city, a river in the woods, mountains, and some clouds.

The elements of art that I used were line, shape, space, and color. Line was where I used the marker, shape was the clouds and the different shaped buildings, space was used in the river drawing, and color was the watercolors that I used throughout the whole thing. The principles of art that I used were balance, pattern, and contrast. I used balance because each of the sections had some color and some white so that none of them seemed like they were unfinished, and I used pattern in the cloud section because it was just multiple clouds. I had contrast because the subjects of the sections like the buildings, the clouds, and the trees were colorful while the background was blank. One thing that I could have done better for this assignment was to take more time to work on it because I found myself rushing to finish so it didn't turn out as well as I wanted it to.
