INFORMATION:
The End of Day Till check will sometimes be incorrect and not match up because something will have been entered wrong in the computer.
There are common mistakes that are made during the day that can cause the till to be out. They are:
A client has made a purchase or booking fee in Salon and it hasn't been put through on the computer
A client has left the salon and paid but it has not been checked out on the computer
A method of payment has been put through as another (E.g - Paid cash but has been but through as paid by Card)
STEPS:
Client Diary 'End of Day report' should still be open and you should still be logged in on the Eftpos machine.
Calculate how much the Till is out by (Eftpos total minus Cliant Diary total) to give you the missing amount.
For the purpose of explaining how to find it, we will call the missing amount (x)
If at any time during the following steps, you find where the missing amount was put through wrong; no need to keep reading through as you have found it.
Firstly, make sure that you have checked that the cash amount is correct and the missing amount (x) hasn't been put through as a cash payment mistakenly.
Secondly, on the Eftpos machine, select 'Transactions'
On Client Diary, open the 'Reports' tab on the left hand side of the screen
Under the category 'Other', select 'Detailed Transaction History'
Select the large pink button labeled 'View Report'
On the Eftpos machine, select 'Transactions'
Look through the transactions and see if there is one that is the same amount as the missing amount (x)
The transaction that matches up with the missing amount number will most likely be the transaction that was put through wrong. Check the time that that transaction was put through (e.g. 4pm)
On Client Diary, scroll down through the transaction history and check to see if there is a transaction at that time that matches the transaction you found on the Eftpos machine (the missing amount (x))
If there are none, that is the transaction that wasn't put through on Client Diary. Ask staff if they remember any transactions around that time for that amount - you can usually tell if it was products, a service or a haircut - depending on the amount.
