INFORMATION: Brushes play a vital role in a salon, They are used for brushing through hair and for blow-drying.
Most salons have a wide variety of different brushes and some will be used more than others. A brush may be used on one client and then immediately on another. It’s important that brushes get checked and cleaned between each client for a couple of reasons. Firstly to prevent any type on cross contamination and also because it looks very unprofessional to go straight from one client to another using the same brush. Nothing looks worse from a client's perspective to see hair from someone else on a brush about to be used in their hair.
Watch this instructional video to learn one method of cleaning brushes.
Exercise caution when lifting heavy things or using cleaning materials. Always follow manufacturers instructions, look at material safety data sheets, follow instructions from a supervisor and ask for help if at any point you are unsure about any part of this procedure.
STEP 1: Use a comb or a suitable brush to get the hair off all brushes.
STEP 2: When soaking, fill the sink with warm water, add a cap full of disinfectant and soak for 1/2 hour
STEP 3: Lay brushes out overnight to dry
