INFORMATION: Quite often at the front of a salon, there will be shelves for retail products to be displayed for purchase. It’s important that the shelves are kept clean and in good order. This makes the presentation of the products more appealing and would give the client more of an incentive to buy a product.
Generally, as a rule, the display shelves would get cleaned on a weekly basis, but if necessary should be cleaned at any time during the week if they are dirty or dusty.
Exercise caution when lifting heavy things, using a ladder or cleaning materials. Always follow manufacturer's instructions, look at material safety data sheets, follow instructions from a supervisor and ask for help if at any point you are unsure about any part of this procedure.
STEP 1: Get cleaning equipment ready ( step ladder, cleaner, rags, trolley, dust buster etc )
STEP 2: Starting on the highest shelf, remove all the products, giving them all a wipe clean as you do
STEP 3: Give the shelf a spray of the suitable cleaner ( this may only be water )
STEP 4: Wipe over the shelf, removing dust, dirt and marks
STEP 5: Replace the products in neat order
STEP 6: Repeat the steps until finished
STEP 7: Put all equipment away
