Salon Hive recognizes that staff need access to phones, both salon fixed line and personal mobile devices to assist in the efficient and professional delivery of services. Salon Hive supports the right of staff to have access to reasonable personal use of their mobile devices.
This policy sets out guidelines for acceptable use of the salon telephone landlines and personal mobile devices. The primary purpose for which access to the salon telephone landlines provided by Salon Hive and personal mobile devices is to assist them in carrying out the duties of their employment.
General, non-urgent personal mobile phone usage is distracting and is not permitted during paid working time. Salon Hive does recognise that in some circumstances employees may need to make or receive personal telephone calls. In case of urgent matters, the salon landline [insert number] can be used for both incoming & outgoing calls by employees.
Whilst at work, personal mobile phones are not to be kept on top of trolleys or bench tops. Salon Hive recognises that mobile devices play an important part in showcasing your work, and for learning new systems in the salon.
However, Salon Hive employees must not use phones for personal use during paid work time.
Excessive use of personal mobile phones, or company landline phones for personal reasons, can interfere with an employee’s productivity and be distracting for others.
Employees should restrict their personal calls during work time by only using their mobile phones during scheduled breaks or lunch periods. Employees are asked to ensure that family and relevant parties (for example, childcare facilities and schools), understand the Salon Hive’s mobile phone policy and have the salon landline number [insert number] should an employee need to be contacted during business hours.
Salon Hive will not be liable for the loss of, or damage to personal mobile phones brought into the workplace by employees. Salon Hive management reserves the right to monitor an employee’s mobile phone usage within the workplace at any time.
Disciplinary action may be initiated by management if it is deemed that an employee’s usage of personal mobile phones is inappropriate or impacting on an employee’s performance in the workplace
