Learners can create animations using frame-by-frame animations to explain processes. These could be used to show life cycles, seed germination, water cycles, or any process with several steps/stages. Animations can also be created to allow learners to retell stories or events. TIP...Learners should plan their animation and the steps/stages in the process they are explaining.

How...

1. Open Just2Easy through Hwb

2. Select JIT

3. Select the animate option

4. Create/Select a background for the animation to take place 

5. Identify the first step in the process and draw or add images to show this step, add text if needed

6. Click on the + to start work on the next frame, learners will see a shadow of the previous frame to support placement in the next step

7. Repeat steps 5 & 6 until complete

Why...

Infographics allow learners to represent their knowledge and understanding through text and images. Learners can plan and organise their work to ensure that the target audience it is shared with gains an understanding of what messages the creator wants to share.

Learners can develop an understanding of how planning their work will support the messages they are portraying, by looking at the use of chronology and the flow of the information being shared. TIP... Planning out the work will ensure learners can plan their content, think about the shape their text will be and identify the images they want to use to support their infographic, allowing them to cover the success criteria.

Why...

This allows the teacher to keep the world on the device they are using. The builds learners create in the world will be accessible to the teacher, on that device, at all times.

If learners are unable to find their build or their peers they can be teleported to you, to others. TIP... when learners are building on the same world ensure that they do not stray too far from where they spawn*, alternatively get learners to make note of the coordinates they are building at.

How...

1. Open Minecraft for Education

4. Press Esc the Join Code will now be shown (If the join code is not working, they can also use the Connection ID)

Why...

Learners can share information in Minecraft using boards to explain, however, they can also use characters to retell parts of a story by adding NPCs to their build. They'll also be able to use the NPCs to share links and give more meaning to their builds  TIP... allowing learners to use NPCs does allow them to have additional control of the world, they should be familiar with using Minecraft and no longer at the stage of breaking each others builds.

NB. This must be done the first time users enter the world. Settings will revert to the default if changed after learners have entered the world.

How...

2. Search for NPC

3. Place the Spawn NPC egg in the Hotbar

6. Place NPC and use right-click to edit the Dialogue and change the Appearance of the NPC

7. Type /wb to change the status to World Builder Off this allows characters to interact with the NPCs

Why...

Learners can share the builds and document the build process using the Camera to take pictures, then use the Folio to add these pictures or the Book & Quill to add images and text to support. TIP... plan out the steps at which they should take their pictures, the text they add should explain the reasons for the design choices.

TIP...the less scripted content the more real the conversation.

1. Create a Folder in Google Drive (Not a Shared Drive)

2. Change the sharing General Access to Hwb/School domain and set it as a viewer

3. Create the template Google Site you want to share with learners in that folder

4. Create an assignment for learners

5. Share a link to the folder with learners through Google Classroom

Learners

6. Learners then open the link

7. Learners Make a copy of the Google Site (this will appear in their Google Drive)

8. Rename their Copy of the Google Site

9. Change the sharing of General Access to Hwb/School domain

10. Learners can then share their Published link to their site in the assignment 

Why...

If you go on a school trip, complete Forest School activities or take pictures of a science Experiment. These pictures can be shared with learners via Google Drive, which can then allow access to the learners via their Google Apps or within the Adobe Creative Cloud Express tools on the Hwb platform. 

How...

Teacher

1. Create a folder in your My Drive that will be shared with learners. (If you intend to share several sets of pictures, create a subfolder and then add others when needed)

2. Add your images/videos to this folder

3. Go back to your My Drive and Right Click the folder

4. Click Share, then click Share again

5. Change the General access to Hwb/School Domain and make sure they only have Viewer rights

6. You can then copy the link and share it with learners through a Google Classroom Assignment

Learners

1. Open Google Classroom and open the assignment as directed

2. Right Click on the folder

3. Select Organise

4. Then select Add shortcut this will then add a shortcut to the folder in their Google My Drive

Learners will not need to repeat this process if the teacher adds additional subfolders to the original folder shared with learners.

Why...

Learners may want to crop/clip parts of a video they have created.

How...

4. Click on the video strand at the bottom of the screen

Why...

Learners can present their understanding of what they have learned through the creation of a webpage. This can allow them to organise their understanding, adding links to evidence that supports their work. 

How...

1. Research and record the information to be added to the web page*

3. Select the Webpage option from the + symbol

4. Work through the Web page adding tiles as needed

*When researching if learners record their notes as bullet points, it prevents them from 'copying & pasting' their research.

Why...

Learners may wish to demonstrate their understanding by creating a website with several pages. Using Google Sites, learners can add documents they have already created on the topic. Google Sites also allows several learners to access the same Google Site, meaning collaboration is simple. TIP... ensure learners have planned out their website, thinking about pages and layout. If they are collaborating, learners should look for consistency in the fonts and size of text used to ensure continuity.
