Geography

On this page, you will find ideas that support the 'Geography' aspects of the Humanities AOLE.

The examples here are ideas of how technology could be used. This is not an extensive list of ways teachers can use technology to enhance their teaching, but an introduction to how some apps could be used.

Adobe Express

Learners could create videos, posters or web pages on what they are learning in class.

Activities could include creating infographics, social media tutorial posts or videos.

Learners can write up their geographical understanding by creating these, they will need to plan how they are going to complete this work, as they may need to take pictures or videos to support their creations.

Google/Office365

Learners could use a word processor to record work on geographical processes and write reports into their investigations.

These can be collaborative documents which allow learners to allocate tasks.

Learners could create a presentation on what they have been covering in class, these could be created to support the learner's screen recording.

These can be created collaboratively where learners can write scripts to support their presentations, which fulfils success criteria.

Learners can use spreadsheets or databases to collate information they have gathered.

These can be used to create graphs or charts.

Learners can use these collaboratively to create data sets with larger amounts of information.

Minecraft for Education

Learners can make use of the different biomes to look at and identify the characteristics of those environments.

Learners could make use of worlds to recreate geographical features accurately.

The True Size

Because we often see the 3D globe represented on a distorted 2D map, we don't appreciate the true size of countries around the world. This great geography site allows you to copy the outline of countries and move them to anywhere on the world map to compare the true size of different regions.
