English

On this page, you will find ideas that support the 'English' aspects of the Languages, literacy & communication AOLE.

The examples here are ideas of how technology could be used. This is not an extensive list of ways teachers can use technology to enhance their teaching, but an introduction to how some apps could be used.

Adobe Express

Learners could create videos, posters or web pages on what they are learning in class.

Activities could include creating infographics, social media posts or videos.

The English side of these activities is supported by the research aspects to support what is created. Learners can create scripts to support the videos they make. There are also the elements of oracy which are evidenced in the production of work which learners have had to create scripts for.

Britannica Education

Learners could use Britannica Education to research using a verified search tool.

Google/Office365

Learners could use a word processor for their written work.

By completing their written work digitally, learners can make use of additional tools in the word processor to support their work. They can use features such as spell check, word count, and bold/italic/underline.

Creating work digitally also keeps track of the history of the document, allowing teachers and learners to see who has added to collaborative documents, as well as seeing the edits which have taken place.

Learners could create a presentation on what they have learnt about, these could then be recorded using a Screen recorder.

These presentations can be recorded by the creator, to do this effectively they can write scripts to support their videos.

Minecraft for Education

Learners can retell stories using NPCs in their builds.

There is a selection of worlds already created that learners can make use of.

Learners can create portfolios of their builds, using pictures taken and writing to create these.
