DCF Tracking/Mapping
Schools can Map or Track their delivery of the DCF using the spreadsheet below.
This will allow the school to identify where the DCF skills identified in being implemented into the school's pedagogy.
A teacher can record where they feel a DCF statement has been experienced in their teaching; they can identify which AoLE it predominantly relates to and give a synopsis of what was done during the activity/task.
The use of this document should answer the question- How do you know you have delivered the DCF in your school?
The ALN document has the RfL routemap to C-Steps statements
The Primary document has:
Progression Step 1 statements for Nursery and Reception classes
Progression Step 2 statements for years 1-3
Progression Step 3 statements for years 4-6
The Secondary document has:
Progression Step 4 statements for years 7-9
Progression Step 5 statements for years 10 & 11
NB. These have been used as approximations corresponding to expectations at ages 5, 8, 11, 14 and 16. As identified in the Introduction to Curriculum for Wales Guidance
When I have used this document in the past staff have updated it at the end of the Autumn term and the end of the Spring term. This allows staff to identify retrospectively where they have implemented the statements in their teaching, and identify where in the Summer term some skills may still need to be covered.
Staff were also not expected to record the DCF within their weekly plans as they were identifying their DCF coverage within the spreadsheet.
How do you know you have delivered the DCF in your school?
Answer- We make use of this spreadsheet which allows staff to identify where in their teaching activities the DCF skills have been experienced by our learners. To find evidence you can see the work that was done in the task identified or speak to the learner about what they did in that specific task.
