Immersive Reader in Microsoft Edge (not Google Chrome) is a feature designed to improve the reading experience by providing a distraction-free environment. It removes unnecessary elements from web pages and presents the text in a simplified layout. You can access it by clicking on the book icon in the address bar or pressing F9 when you’re on a webpage supporting this feature.
By clicking on the Windows icon, learners can search for 'Keyboards'.
By selecting 'Edit languages and keyboard options'
Learners can then Add a language
Learners can then select their language of choice
Once found, learners need to select the language and install the support pack.
Learners can then select the language they can type in.
To allow learners to type in their preferred language they can use the on-screen keyboard.
To access this learners can search for this using the Windows search, they need to search for the On-screen Keyboard.
The Keyboard will adapt to the language input.
To add a language to the Chromebook,
Open the options by clicking on the time in the bottom right of the screen.
Select the Keyboard to be used.
If the language is not there, open the settings cog in the top right of the pop-up.
From here, select Add input methods.
Then select the language required.
Open the options menu by clicking on the time in the bottom right.
Click on the cog to open the settings.
Type to search for the On-screen Keyboard.
The Keyboard symbol will now be on the bottom row (next to the Sign Out box)
The keyboard will then appear on the screen in the language of choice, this can be changed on the onscreen keyboard.
Remove the On-screen keyboard, it can be minimised using the Hide-keyboard option in the bottom right of the on-screen keyboard.
