The Governing Body understands the importance of the Digital Competence Framework (DCF). The Governing Body has appointed a Digital Link Governor to assist the governing body to have a better understanding and knowledge of this area within the school

The role may include:

• To ensure that school leaders can demonstrate what progression in digital skills looks like through the school and report regularly to the Governing Body   

• To ensure that the school's sustainability plan for maintaining the digital provision is regularly reported to the Governing Body  

• To ensure that school leaders are identifying and supporting digitally disadvantaged learners, and how GB policies can underpin this

• To ensure online safety policies and acceptable use policies, including social media use, clearly demonstrate good and safe internet practice for staff, pupils and governors, and that it is reviewed by the governing body

• To understand where the sex and relationships education policy and the anti-bullying policy fits in with online safety, and that these policies are also reviewed by the governing body

• Be aware of and understand the guidance that applies to schools in Wales in relation to online safety, for example: - Keeping Learners Safe – Welsh Government

• Helping the school to complete the 360 degree safe Cymru e-Safety self-review, which allows schools to review their online safety policies and practices

• Helping to ensure that the school actively engages with parents regarding online safety

• Attending in-service training course (INSET day) if relevant/possible

• Reporting to the relevant committee and/or the governing body on the effectiveness of the DCF and associated policies, and keeping the governing body informed of any issues 

• Keeping knowledge up to date with relevant guidance and by attending relevant governor training, including any online training available.
