Possible Classroom Activities

Infographics

How to create infographics using Adobe Creative Cloud Express...

Infographics can support learners' ability to use their language skills concisely. They can plan their writing to ensure that it fulfils the criteria and design aspects of the task.

Podcasts

Using Podcasts in the Classroom

Learners being able to create their podcasts will allow them to explain what they have understood about a topic they have been learning about. A podcast allows learners to interact and share information in a 'semi-formal' manner. They can plan their conversation and have a lead 'interviewer' who can direct the conversation with questions, they will need to develop their listening skills to allow their conversation to not seem scripted. TIP...the less scripted content the more real the conversation.

By planning conversations, learners will be able to understand how language is used within journalism. Those conversations can flow through the preparation of questions and the depth of knowledge on the subject by others in the conversation.

Conversations can also be recorded in other languages, although these do not produce a transcript.

Videos

Create Videos to explain what has been learnt and understood in the classroom

When learners create videos, they can write a script to support the video content. It is most efficient to create the script prior to creating the video as it ensures the success criteria of the activity are met.

Through creating videos, learners will be able to develop their writing skills, and become aware of their punctuation through editing and improving their scripts. Their oracy skills will develop through understanding how they sound and how they can improve their skills of engaging and presenting to others.

Websites/Webpages

Create Websites/ Webpages to explain what has been learnt and understood in the classroom

Creating websites can allow learners to understand their writing and the role it has in the work they are creating. Websites and Webpages can be created to document processes and allow learners to record their understanding of what they have learnt.
