Reading Progress for Assessment

Reading Progress is a tool built into Microsoft Teams that helps improve their reading fluency.

This Video will guide you in assigning a Reading Progress activity to your class.

Using Microsoft Teams learners will be able to access their Reading Progress activity.

Teachers can choose the text they want learners to be assessed on.

An assignment will provide you with data on your learner's reading ability. This can be recorded and tracked through their time in the school.

Considerations and Opportunities with Reading Progress

As a school/cluster, you could use selected texts as benchmarks for assessment points throughout the year.

Identify texts for learners at different reading levels and differentiate the assignments your learners get.

Ensure learners are familiar with the support processes once they have submitted their assignments.

Use text in which your learners are familiar with the subject. e.g. learners will read words like erosion and deposition if they have previously experienced them when learning about them in class.

Support your learners in understanding how to practice their reading before they submit their responses.
