Year 2

Year 2 is where learners can continue to apply their understanding of using technology to create work.

The Ideas shared within this section are based on the progression map example, this does not mean that these should be taken as expectations, but as possibilities.

Following the work started in Year 1, Year 2 can continue to reinforce the skills introduced in Year 1. Additionally, as learners progress in their reading and writing they can create work that supports that development.

Just2Easy

Data Handling

Learners can start to continue to add their data to charts and see a visual representation of their data. They can then start to think about questions their data representations can answer.

Animations

Learners can start to create animations in JIT5- animate. Learners can start to tell stories through their animations.

Coding

Within Just2Easy, J2Code can be used with the advanced settings. This will allow learners to predict and debug their algorithms.

Google/Office365/J2Office

Digital Learning Platform (DLP)

Learners can continue to access their 'assignments' through either Google Classroom or Microsoft TEAMS.

This can be explained to learners as their digital book, it is where they will find out the work which has been set.

NB. For teachers, this will allow them to organise the work of their learners under the topics of the 6 AOLEs.

Storage

If learners are starting to make use of Chromebooks they may begin to understand how Google Drive if using Google Classrooms or OneDrive if using Office365 will be where their data is now saved.

Learners should know that the work they create in Google Classroom and TEAMS is stored in the corresponding cloud storage.

Learners can start to understand how to create folders to store their work in an organised manner.

Presentations

Learners can continue to use presentations shared with them in their DLP.

They can now start to add images, and text where needed.

Learners can also start to look at being able to crop their shapes and images.

Word processors

As learners begin to develop their writing skills they can start to make use of word processing tools.

Learners can also start to use additional features within the app, such as making their writing bold, italic or underlined.

Online Forms/Surveys

Learners can begin to respond to online questionnaires, this will allow them to understand their purpose and function.

This will support a developing understanding to create their own in future year groups.

Additional apps

Minecraft

Learners can continue to build in Minecraft, they can start to create fulfilling set criteria on topics/themes covered in school.

Learners can also start to take screenshots of the work they've created, this can then be added to their DLP or presentations to allow them to explain further their reasons for their build choices.

Britannica Education

Learners can search for information from a trusted source. They can continue to use keywords to search for information on areas covered in class.

Britannica education allows your learners to listen to the information they find, therefore not needing a high reading level to access the information.

Adobe Express

Video- Learners can start to create their own videos, adding pictures or videos from the bank of images. Or they can add pictures/videos from their Google Drive.

This will also allow them to add audio to their work to explain what they are showing. Their work can then be shared and the link added to their DLP.
