Year 3

In year 3, learners can continue to apply their understanding of using technology to create work, their work will become more complex with their improving use of language.

The Ideas shared within this section are based on the progression map example, this does not mean that these should be taken as expectations, but as possibilities.

Learners in year 3 could also start to use E-Portfolios, this is an opportunity for them to reflect on the work they have created. They can add their work from several additional applications, including all those in the Hwb platform.

Just2Easy

Data Handling

Learners can start to make use of databases, these will allow learners to:

Animations

Learners can continue to use JIT5 Animate to explain different processes.

Coding

Within Just2Easy, J2Code Visual can start to be used to develop an understanding of coding a sprite.

Using Level 1, learners can draw shapes or get their sprites to 'say' what they want.

Google/Office365/J2Office

Digital Learning Platform (DLP)

Learners can continue to access their 'assignments' through either Google Classroom or Microsoft TEAMS.

This can be explained to learners as their digital book, it is where they will find out the work which has been set.

NB. For teachers, this will allow them to organise the work of their learners under the topics of the 6 AOLEs.

Storage

Learners continue to use and understand their online storage.

They will be able to create and share documents from their online storage and change the sharing permissions for these.

NB. The permissions should only ever be changed to be shared within their school domain (HWB).

Presentations

Learners should now be able to create presentations, that fulfil a success criteria.

Learners should start to plan what will be on each slide, and create content that has a level of consistency in their design choices.

Learners can also start to choose different transitions in their presentations.

Word processors

Learners can continue to use word processors to support their written work. Increasing their use of additional organisational features:

Online Forms/Surveys

Learners can start to plan what questions can be asked in Forms, they can develop an understanding of closed/open-ended questions.

Looking at possible answers to questions.

Create class Forms which can be used to gather information.

Google Sites/Microsoft OneNote

Learners can start to curate their digital work in a Website-Google Sites or a Notebook-OneNote.

By using an App to allow learners to curate their digital work, they also can reflect on the work they have done.

This reflection can allow learners to explain what they have learnt in their work. They can also reflect against the Four Purposes, this will allow learners to understand how their work in the classroom is developing the characteristics of the Four Purposes.

Additional apps

Minecraft

Using Minecraft to build against a criterion, learners can start to add signs or boards to which they can add information.

Learners can then take screenshots of their work and add them to presentations or Adobe videos.

Britannica Education

Learners should know now that Britannica Education is a trusted source of information.

Britannica Education should now be the first point of reference for learners completing their own research.

Learners should be aware that they should reference in their work the sites they have used to gather information.

Adobe Express

Video- Learners can create their videos, adding pictures or videos from the bank of images. Or they can add pictures/videos from their Google Drive.

Learners could add their pictures from Minecraft and add audio over the top to explain what they have built and why.

Poster- Learners can start to create and plan posters/infographics on the work they are covering in class. They can add animations to their text and images to create infographics which they may be aware of from social media.

NB. All of their Adobe creations can be added to their e-portfolios by embedding their links.
