Intrinsic Motivation

Intrinsic Motivation is the wanting of engagement in activities for the purposes of achieving goals that are interesting to oneself.

Self determination theory finds that three psychological needs strongly influence behavior: the urge to control one's life, the act of caring for others and experiencing mastery. These psychological needs are linked with intrinsic motivation in terms of learning. Thus, people who are intrinsically motivated have a higher degree of control in their life. They are willing to engage in challenges, problems or tasks that they see within their capabilities to solve.
