Postsecondary Educational Experiences

Once people complete their compulsory education, they may pursue further education in a variety of settings (e.g., community college, college, university, vocational or technical schools). There are several important differences between K-12 and postsecondary education settings.

  1. Postsecondary education programs (PSE) only recruit and accept those who are most prepared for the program.

  2. PSE has no responsibility for those who are not accepted to the program.

  3. PSE rewards talent and does not care for those who struggle.

  4. K-12 is responsible for preparing students for the demands of college and beyond.

  5. PSE students have more independence.

  6. PSE expects students to figure it out on their own and ask questions when they need help.
