Chapter 6 explored what a Motivation for Learning is but as this section points out, motivation evolves

12 years old

Goal: an Xbox 3D

Motivation: its fun and friends will want to hang out.

35 years old

Goal: get promoted at work.

Motivation: recognition, money, and the boat it can buy.

70 years old

Goal: go fishing with grandkids

Motivation: life fulfillment and understanding YOLO.

As people age, the feedback they respond to changes, therefore their motivation changes.

  • older workers respond to positive feedback on quality.

  • younger workers respond to feedback on how to improve.
