A Systematic Approach to Implementation

A Systematic Approach to Implementation

Learning is an active process where an individual acquires knowledge and skills through engaging, manipulating objects, experiences, and interacting with other people. According to Alexander (1996), students must have prior knowledge to support all future learning. Also, learners must be situated in an authentic context to stimulate thinking. School is the heart of wisdom. However, due to the pandemic we are experiencing, schools shut all across the world. Children are out of the classroom. The delivery of education has changed dramatically. The Ministry/ Department of Education devised a strategy to keep learners on track through e-learning. With this sudden shift, some wonder whether the adoption of online learning will continue to persist post-pandemic and how would such delivery of education will affect the quality of teaching.

Amidst these situations and changes, schools provide a way to make learning still possible through the countless benefits of technology. They count technology plays an important role and success in e-learning and classroom setting, these include;

  • Some researchers agree with this digital platform because it increases the retention of information and takes less time.

  • There is a lot of education sector that supports e-learning. At the same time, they offer free access to their services, online tutoring, and free live classes. Other companies provide a one-stop-shop for both teachers and learners.

  • Through the integration of Information technology in education, it becomes an integral component of school education. The teaching model has changed; it enables teachers to reach out to their students more efficiently and effectively through social media.

  • There is much positive feedback from educators worldwide that e-learning increases student engagement, more motivation. They perform better on core subjects and more involved in their learning, and produced higher quality work.

  • Learners can learn at their own pace, going back and re-reading, skipping, and can do the advanced reading as they like.

  • Teachers provide engaging activities through the use of technology that will make the lesson more interactive.

  • Some students become more information literate, media literate, and computer literate because of their engagement and technology exposure.

  • Students to grow beyond their comfort zone.

  • Students' self-confidence increase because confidence builds upon learning.

  • Learners become competent when they acquire more knowledge and feed of continuous practice.

  • Inside the classroom, technology serves as an aide for teachers for their lessons. The teacher can play video of a solar system, places around the world, scientific studies that can't bring inside the classroom, photos of animals, play games using technology, project their lessons in a more engaging manner, and all things related to their task.

  • The technology inside the classroom provides access to their lesson.

  • Technology caters to different learning styles because more senses are involved.

However, technology has become a threat both to students and teachers because of external factors, whether in a classroom setting or e-learning. These include;

  • Improper use of technology inside the classroom setting. Some teachers use technology to kill time.

  • Some teachers use technology to keep students from stopping their misbehavior.

  • Some Teachers use technology as their substitute.

  • Educational technology is costly, accessibility, time-consuming, and lacks the knowledge of the teacher.

  • In e-learning, teachers can't facilitate all their students because of technical problems.

  • Teachers are more tempted to hive asynchronous activities with the use of technology.

  • Teachers are having difficulties in tracking the integrity of students in their activities.

  • On the other hand, students have a hard time accessing their lessons because of technical problems. They are more tempted to other websites (e-learning).

  • Inside the real classroom setting, some students are very dependent on technology. They demand to watch movies unrelated to their topic.

In conclusion, the school can access the benefits of technology when they follow the guidelines on adequately using it, when to use it and why they have to use it. We can't avoid using technology, but teachers or schools should design plans to deal with its limitations.

· Provide information on how the section is relevant to Middle and High School teachers.

A systematic approach to implementation is designed for all levels of learning to maximize the use of technology in a classroom setting or e-learning. This is the discretion of the school on how they are going to facilitate their high school students. High school teachers should innovate or generate ideas on how they are going to use technology. For 21st century learners, they must be equipped with skills (life skills, career skills, and soft skills) to produce competent learners and meet the international standard of learning. Technology is not always about gadgets, electronic materials, or television because chalk and board are the oldest technology invented in the history of education. However, educational technology is evolving to cope with diversity and increase learning. As such, Middle and High School teachers should;

  • Use instructional materials related to or appropriate to their lesson.

  • Add video clips if needed to see the real setting and elaborate more about their lesson.

  • The teacher could use PowerPoint presentations to be more engaging and more convenient.

  • The teacher could also project photos, documents, and other materials as aides.

  • The teacher could also provide games projected on the screen to help students develop critical thinking.

  • In the e-learning setting, teachers should design their presentations concisely and address their learning styles. The teacher should facilitate their performance or assess their learning using varied forms of assessment. Nowadays, the teacher instructs their students to make a vlog/blog, design a logo using a computer app, and portfolio using a computer.

  • Teachers should always follow guidelines and have a backup plan to keep their lessons still in control.

To conclude this, systematic approach implementation to middle and high school teachers has to be careful and not casual to digital technology, whether it is e-learning or classroom setting.

Teachers who are in different fields of teaching, using social platforms and other levels. This section (systematic approach implementation to technology) allows teachers to see the positive and negative effects of technology, guidelines, and how to cope with changes in using digital technology. They should devise or craft their teaching where technology is an aide and not their substitute. It will also allow them to have connections to their students' needs and deliver education in a manner that addresses learning styles and cultural diversity. Teachers can easily manage the class and monitor their behaviors.
