Adult literacy in the United States is low. More than 50 million adults are not able to secure a job because of their low literacy level. Of these 50 million only about two million were enrolled in a literacy program.
The solution

With the use of technology the accessibility of literacy programs can improve especially for those that might have difficultly in making the time or getting to a learning campus.

To improve the adult literacy rate, focusing on literacy while they are in grade school can help. Having literacy as a focus in our classrooms will help prevent adult illiteracy and allow them to secure and keep a job so they can support themselves.
