Learning technologies expand the possibilities for supporting students!
Affordances = "opportunities that a technology makes possible related to learning and instruction"
Technology can help support several aspects of learning and has the power to change the classroom experience as a whole. We can use technology in the classroom to quickly reach learning goals for students, as well as opening new doors of creativity for them. Bringing more technology into the classroom opens the door to endless possibilities for students.
What Can Teachers Do??
Teachers can learn to use programs in the classroom that promote digital literacy to students. Teachers can also use programs like scratch and google sites to introduce students to coding and website design. Introducing students to coding not only helps them develop marketable and useful skills, but it can also open doors that allow students to explore more aspects of their own creativity, and possible career paths. Teachers should try to utilize technology as much as possible in the classroom and provide students access to chromebooks/computers in the classroom if available. If teachers take it upon themselves to introduce innovative technologies into their daily classroom routine, students will benefit immeasurably and will become more empowered by their own capabilities.
